Marwell 10K - 2008
It was an interesting day weather wise, with a thunderstorm just before the start. The non-native birds in the zoo where in fine voice while the storm was in full swing. Luckily the storm had passed by the time the race started so you run without the rain jackets etc.
This is not an event I normally photograph, but several people from the works running group where in action, so I came to heckle them. The photos have a biases towards Stubington Green, Fareham Crusaders, Denmead Striders, Portsmouth Joggers and off course my fellow runners from work. Their are about 850 photos from the event on the site so you have a fair chance I may have got you. I have not yet had the time to implement the find your photo by race number feature so I'm afraid that you while have to wade through the thumbnails to find a photo of interest.
Conditions on the day made photography difficult, the cloud meant light levels where low, not helped by the numerous trees and high hedgerows further cutting down light levels. If you are into photography it meant you had to shoot with at f2.8 aperture, which of course means a shallow depth of field. This is why the runner the camera focused on is sharp, but those around could be a little out of focus. I switched lens for the return leg, using the 135mm fixed lens, that was perhaps not a good idea has I got more dud shoots than normal. My lens choice problems will be solved as soon as Sigma get the 50-150mm f2.8 out in the Sony mount, supposedly available since January but no one has them in stock.
I was at the junction of Thompsons Lane/ Hurst Lane which was just after the 2 Km marker for the outward leg, and just after 9km for the return leg. I had to change memory cards when photographing you on the return leg so their is gap.
